Desde 1895, La Biennale di Venezia se ha consolidado como una de las plataformas más influyentes para el arte contemporáneo a nivel mundial. Cada dos años, Venecia se transforma en un escenario expandido donde conviven pabellones nacionales, exposiciones institucionales, intervenciones independientes y proyectos experimentales repartidos entre palacios históricos, iglesias, galerías y fundaciones alrededor de toda la ciudad. Más que una única exposición, la Biennale funciona como una red de muestras simultáneas: además de la exhibición central y los pabellones oficiales, gran parte de la experiencia ocurre en eventos colaterales y exposiciones paralelas que amplían el recorrido de la bienal y permiten descubrir algunas de las propuestas más relevantes de cada edición.

Since 1895, La Biennale di Venezia has established itself as one of the most influential platforms for contemporary art worldwide. Every two years, Venice transforms into an expanded exhibition landscape where national pavilions, institutional exhibitions, independent interventions, and experimental projects unfold across historic palazzos, churches, galleries, and foundations throughout the city. More than a single exhibition, the Biennale operates as a network of simultaneous shows: beyond the main exhibition and official pavilions, much of the experience takes place through collateral events and parallel exhibitions that expand the scope of the Biennale and offer the chance to discover some of the most relevant proposals of each edition.

La edición 2026 de La Biennale di Venezia transforma nuevamente a Venecia en un mapa de exposiciones, intervenciones y proyectos especiales que ocupan palacios históricos, fundaciones, iglesias y espacios independientes alrededor de la ciudad. La muestra central de la Biennale se divide principalmente entre los Giardini y el Arsenale, dos de los espacios históricos más importantes de la exposición. Los Giardini reúnen gran parte de los pabellones nacionales permanentes, mientras que el Arsenale, el antiguo astillero naval de Venecia, contiene una parte significativa de la exposición curatorial y proyectos de gran escala. Sin embargo, una de las particularidades de la Biennale es que gran parte de la experiencia sucede fuera de estos espacios principales: los eventos colaterales y exhibiciones paralelas se expanden por toda la ciudad y hacen parte esencial del recorrido, conectando distintas miradas, formatos y contextos. Estuvimos la semana pasada recorriendo la bienal y reunimos una selección de exposiciones, pabellones y proyectos que vale la pena visitar si van a estar en Venecia durante los próximos meses.

The 2026 edition of La Biennale di Venezia once again transforms Venice into an expanded landscape of exhibitions, interventions, and special projects unfolding across historic palazzos, foundations, churches, and independent spaces throughout the city. The Biennale’s main exhibition is primarily divided between the Giardini and the Arsenale, two of the institution’s most historic venues. The Giardini houses many of the permanent national pavilions, while the Arsenale — Venice’s former naval shipyard — hosts a significant part of the curated exhibition alongside large-scale projects and installations. Still, one of the defining aspects of the Biennale is that much of the experience unfolds beyond these central sites: collateral events and parallel exhibitions spread throughout the city and become an essential part of the experience, connecting different perspectives, formats, and contexts. We spent last week exploring the Biennale and put together a selection of exhibitions, pavilions, and projects worth seeing if you’re planning to be in Venice over the coming months.
