From October 14 to February 14, Rick Owens Furniture presents its collection Rust Never Sleeps at Carpenters Workshop Gallery, London, curated by Michèle Lamy. In this exhibition, dust becomes the starting point: an element that usually symbolizes neglect, forgetfulness, or impermanence, but here represents the opposite. Dust endures, remains, creates, and defies the passage of time. Decay, then, appears as a form of resistance.

En esta exposición, el polvo se convierte en el punto de partida: un elemento que normalmente simboliza descuido, olvido o impermanencia, pero que aquí representa todo lo contrario. El polvo resiste, permanece, crea, y desafía el paso del tiempo. La decadencia, entonces, aparece como una forma de resistencia.

Rick Owens is an iconic creative of the 21st century, exploring different fields such as fashion and furniture design. He began studying art but soon turned to fashion, where his raw, sculptural vision caught the attention of figures like Kate Moss and Anna Wintour. Since then, he has built a brand that reflects his way of seeing the world—unfiltered, uncompromising, always faithful to an aesthetic that moves between the beautiful and the brutal. He lives and works mainly in Paris alongside his wife and collaborator, Michèle Lamy, a constant presence in both his work and his life.

In 2005, Owens introduced his first furniture collection—a space of co-creation with Lamy that expanded his language beyond clothing. In this creative release, Owens tells a story: he extends his aesthetics into his surroundings, into the way he lives. It’s a private conversation where the custom-made, the artisanal, and the rare make sense. His furniture becomes a kind of autobiographical gesture, where execution and process become the central axis.

En 2005, Owens introdujo su primera colección de mobiliario, un espacio de co-creación con Lamy que expandió su lenguaje más allá de la ropa. En este desfogue creativo, Owens cuenta una historia: extiende su estética a su entorno, a la forma en que vive. Es una conversación privada donde cobran sentido lo hecho a medida, lo artesanal, lo raro. Rust Never Sleeps continues this exploration. The pieces are made of elm, rusted steel, graphite crocodile leather, bronze, patinated steel, and camel leather cushions. Materials that speak of weight, time, and endurance. Owens doesn’t try to hide the mark but to let it build up. His furniture doesn’t aim to shine, but to oxidize, to resist, to age with dignity.

Rust Never Sleeps continúa esa exploración. Las piezas están hechas de olmo, acero oxidado, cuero de cocodrilo grafito, bronce, acero patinado y cojines de cuero de camello. Materiales que hablan de peso, de tiempo y de permanencia. Owens no busca esconder la huella, sino dejar que se acumule. Su mobiliario no busca brillar, sino oxidarse, resistir, envejecer con dignidad.

Carpenters Workshop Gallery, located in Ladbroke Hall, London, is a space that transcends design. A contemporary art gallery where the boundaries between art, sculpture, and functional object are blurred. Founded in 2006, it has locations in London, Paris, New York, and Los Angeles, and has become a meeting point for creators who challenge the limits of the object.
