Siempre miramos la superficie del cuadro, como si la obra existiera aislada, desprendida del cuerpo que la engendra.
Olvidamos que antes del color hubo un temblor en la mano, una respiración contenida, un gesto que aún no se había fijado en el lienzo.
We always look at the surface of the painting, as if the work existed in isolation, detached from the body that brings it into being.
We forget that before the color, there was a tremor in the hand, a held breath, a gesture not yet fixed on the canvas.
En Felipe Lozano la pintura no nace solo de la mirada, sino de la corporalidad que la sostiene.
Su hombro inclinado, la tensión de sus brazos, la cercanía con el modelo: todo ello es también pintura, una escritura invisible que prepara la aparición de la imagen. El pintor se convierte entonces en su propia obra, porque lo que vemos en el cuadro es también

In Felipe Lozano, painting is born not only from the gaze, but from the corporeality that sustains it.
