Rivera Arquitectos es un estudio fundado en 2009 por Gabriel Rivera, cuya premisa es “una arquitectura contemporánea, funcional y respetuosa con el contexto y con el lugar”. En cada proyecto, tanto el espacio físico como el cliente se convierten en elementos clave en la planeación y construcción: “somos responsables de transformar, en arquitectura, sentimientos, ideas y sueños”.
Rivera Arquitectos is a studio founded in 2009 by Gabriel Rivera, whose premise is “a contemporary, functional architecture that is respectful of the context and the place.” In every project, both the physical space and the client become key elements in the planning and construction process: “we are responsible for transforming, through architecture, feelings, ideas, and dreams.”
La Casa Tacuri es una de las materializaciones más claras de esta filosofía. Construida en 2018, esta vivienda se integra de manera orgánica con su entorno, equilibrando espacio y materialidad. Es un lugar que transmite calma, resguardo y conexión. Con 650 m², está ubicada en Nayón, Quito, una zona especial por su fauna y flora, hogar de árboles endémicos y una gran diversidad de aves.
Casa Tacuri is one of the clearest materializations of this philosophy. Built in 2018, this residence blends organically with its surroundings, balancing space and materiality. It is a place that conveys calm, shelter, and connection. With 650 m², it is located in Nayón, Quito, an area notable for its wildlife and flora, home to endemic trees and a wide variety of birds.
A través de esta casa vemos cómo el movimiento, la transformación, la luz y la sombra convergen en un solo espacio. Con áreas abiertas, la vivienda se construye a partir del paisaje y no al revés. Fiel al concepto arquitectónico planteado para esta casa, “vivir entre árboles”, invita también a reflexionar sobre la huella que dejamos al construir.
Through this house, we see how movement, transformation, light, and shadow converge in a single space. Featuring open areas, the home is built from the landscape outward, not the other way around. True to the architectural concept developed for this project, “living among trees”, it also invites reflection on the footprint we leave when building.
Aunque la casa está dividida en tres zonas, todas convergen en un mismo punto: el patio central. Siempre retorna al aire, a la naturaleza. El primer volumen, orientado hacia el frente, reúne los espacios sociales; el segundo, perpendicular al primero, alberga las áreas familiares de descanso; y en el tercero se encuentra el estudio. El diseño responde a la topografía natural del lote, por lo que los espacios se escalonan hasta integrarse finalmente en el patio central. Únicamente el dormitorio principal se ubica en la segunda planta, con una vista privilegiada al valle de Cumbayá.
Although the house is divided into three zones, they all converge at one central point: the courtyard. It always returns to the air, to nature. The first volume, facing the front, houses the social spaces; the second, perpendicular to the first, contains the family rest areas; and the third is home to the studio. The design responds to the lot’s natural topography, so the spaces rise gradually until they finally integrate into the central courtyard. Only the main bedroom is located on the second floor, offering a unique view of the Cumbayá Valley.
